Meet the diverse and motivated executive team! Dedicated to making a positive impact on Calgary's local community through our health sciences conference.
Dedicated in providing excellence.
Andrea Zhuang wants to live in a world where experiences are authentic, smiles lead to hello, and true passions are discovered. Currently in first year Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, Andrea aspires to pursue a career in medicine, but most importantly appreciate the journey towards that goal. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking and reading. Andrea is thrilled to help make Project Pulse happen in Calgary.
To Bilal, Science is like “woaahh”. Majoring in Biological Sciences at the UofC, Bilal is the type of person you’d refer to as ‘chill’. Ironically, he hates the cold and longs for hot summer days when you can play soccer outside or go swimming in nearby lakes - although, he is most famous for sneaking pizza into libraries where he spends most of his late nights procrastinating. For the second time this year, Bilal strives to help the Project Pulse Calgary Team conduct an outstanding event, that will not only enrich young minds with powerful knowledge, but also inspire them to seize their goals!
Majoring in Biomedical Sciences, Monica is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Health Sciences degree at the University of Calgary. She possesses a sense of avidity and exuberance for science and medicine, especially due to its interdisciplinary nature and its ability to support inquisition. In her free time, Monica is an avid dancer and swimmer, but would never pass up the opportunity to indulge in a good book. Through the conference, she hopes to share her unique appreciation and enthusiasm for the field of health sciences and hopes that it will provide a vast array of opportunities and insight.
Saud is entering his second-year Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. He hopes that through his current role as a student researcher he can provide insight to students interested in science and research. In his free time, Saud can be found with his friends arguing about where they should eat but he can also be found playing Soccer on the pitch. Saud has very high hopes for Zenith 2017 and he believes that it’s an outstanding opportunity for high school students to broaden their vision about the field of Health Sciences.
By majoring in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary, Sana hopes to continue fostering her passion for the health sciences. Aside from pursuing her passion, Sana volunteers at various events throughout the year and spends her time teaching younger children. She hopes to use her experiences through being club leader, an ambassador for the IB program and Vice President of Finance for her JA company in order to bring a conference that will leave students inspired and motivated to follow their aspirations in the health sciences.
Currently in his second year of his Biological Sciences degree, Jaskaran is a returning executive member. When he is not volunteering at the lab and with various other initiatives, he can be found roaming Calgary, looking for his next culinary adventure. Jaskaran enjoys going to the gym and Muay Thai, and loves dragging his friends with him, despite their reluctance. Having a passion for clinical neuroscience, Jaskaran firmly believes that exposure may be the first step in the pursuit of something great, and that's what he hopes to achieve once again this year with Zenith 2017.
What is life? Andrew strives to answer the biggest question of all through his studies and his extracurriculars. As a first-year Neuroscience student, Andrew hopes to understand the limits of reality and how reward centres give weighting to perception. Going beyond the classroom, Andrew works to provide Calgary’s immigrant community with the tools for well-being through his work with the University’s Department of Family Medicine. Andrew looks forward to bringing his experience, curiosity, and character to Project Pulse Zenith.
Somith is walking into his final year at Sir Winston Churchill High School. His involvement with Project Pulse, the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, and the other many organizations around Calgary has helped him realise his passion for helping others out, learning about the health sciences, and being deeply connected with health science professionals. Somith’s involvement around the community and with several successful social media accounts on several platforms provides him with the tools to excel as a marketing director and promote Zenith 2017 in the hopes of another successful conference.
Sana is a first year student studying Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. Working as a Community Health Promotion Assistant with Diabetes Canada during the summer of 2017, Sana promoted diabetes education and advocacy to make a difference in the lives of everyday people. Her passion for community involvement can be seen through various volunteer roles with children, seniors, and everyone in between. Sana believes that there are boundless captivating opportunities offered in health sciences and that Project Pulse offers a step towards discovering one’s unique path.
Karl Buhler leads by empowerment. A grade 11 AP student at Westmount Charter School, Karl is an advocate of social capital and seeks to improve the role of youth in society. In his spare time, Karl enjoys the creative liberties provided by graphic design, he hopes to help extend the reach of Project Pulse in the coming year through the development of new marketing material.
