Introducing Prism'18 university panelist, Ryan Lee!

Ryan Lee is a 2nd year Bioinformatics Student in the Health Sciences Program at the University of Calgary. He has conducted research in the Lindsay Virtual Human lab, developing the concept for a virtual reality educational resource that allows one to tour the digestive system. He implemented 3 versions of the program - a narrated video, a virtual reality program using the HTC Vive headset and motion controllers, and a desktop/laptop compatible program - using the game engine, Unreal Engine. In October, he presented his research to his classmates and faculty members at the Bachelor of Health Sciences Research Symposium. While his aspiration is to become a physician, he believes that bioinformatics is a critical skill to have in the medical field and hopes to implement a greater use of technology and other interdisciplinary approaches in his career.
